North American Open Water Rowing Championship

Next Race is 2013 (But I love this course so I'm leaving it up.)

Course -- 2009.

This is a spectacular course. If you are interested in rowing this race it is the Jamestown Counter Revolution and you can find out more about it here.

The course will be 1 counter-revolution around the main island of Jamestown, Rhode Island from Mackerel Cove to Fort Getty and will be open to all qualified human powered boats. The total distance is just over 15 miles with a mass shotgun start for all classes of boats. On most summer mornings in August the seas are typically 1-2. More than half the race will be protected from the prevailing winds but there will most likely be a head wind for the last 4 miles of the race so plan ahead. Currents can be strong but usually are no stronger than 2-3 knots. The finish will be at the Pavilion at Fort Getty where post race massages will be available for competitors. Food and drink will also be provided before the awards ceremony.
